Edgar went to New York at his brother Johnny's invitation to join Johnny's trio of drummer Uncle John "Red" Turner (Port Neches-Groves HS graduate), and Tommy Shannon on bass. In the late 60's, breakthrough artist Johnny called Edgar and invited Edgar to join his trio in New York. The trio included Johnny, drummer Uncle John "Red" Turner (a Port Neches-Groves HS graduate), and bassist Tommy Shannon. In August 1969, the group played at Woodstock, an event Edgar says, "...changed my life!" In 1970, Edgar set about creating his own band, and he recruited the best musicians he could find to be part of it. Called White Trash, band members included (L to R) Mike McLellan, Jerry LaCroix, Randy Hobbs, Rick Derringer, Jon Smith, Edgar Winter, Tilly Lawrence, and Bobby Ramirez.
